Fundraising

I never planned to do this in order to raise money, but my C2C experience demonstrated that people can be very generous in sponsoring those who are completing challenges that they don’t specially want to do themselves! Therefore it felt perverse not to give charities the opportunity to benefit from others’ generosity. In 2021 I raised almost £2000 for Buckinghamshire Mind by doing C2C. In 2022, I walked the English leg of the Big Walk in aid of Thames Valley Air Ambulance, a charity that I have supported over many years. As a solo walker in sometimes hazardous and remote areas, it seemed a particularly appropriate cause.  I was delighted to raise over £11,000 for the charity last year.

For the Scottish section I chose the Chiltern Samaritans to fundraise for.  I am very proud to have started to work for the charity as a listening volunteer, and therefore know first hand just how necessary their work is.  The fund for them raised £7,500 in 2023.  So to have in total raised over £20,000 for charity, just by putting one foot in front of the other, has been very satisfying.
